Also had to have an occupational health meeting today for my job as not worked for 6 months now and hoping they make me redundant as i can't work as a waitress with ra due to pain and flares in my opinion. (others may do) and i then can get benefits till i find a job i can do with the ra(i am not doing this just for benefits, i hope people understand that) I have now been on Plaq for just over three years and MTX for just under three years.

Aug 22, 2008 I take both prednisone and plaquenil. I heard someone once say that prednisone is the drug one loves to hate. It really does wonders to control inflammation, but has nasty side effects when given in large doses and/or used for a long period of time. Hello, I am taking methotrexate and prednisone, my doses are about what most of you list that you are on Methotrexate 15.5 mg weekly, 6 tablets of 2.5 mg each Monday, prednisone 5 mg each day and folic-acid 1000 mcg daily. Sep 14, 2012 My last cycle of Prednisone calmed things down temporarily, but my flare is still raging and my rheumatologist would like me to begin taking Methorexate. In fact, she thinks I started taking it last week! I was so freaked out by the side-effects and risks of Methotrexate, that today I sought out a second opinion from a different rheumatologist.

My Rheumy suggested MTX and told me it would be months before we knew for sure it would work. The combination works well for me-though I also take a NSAID. I started feeling better about a month after starting plaq-I was also on prednisone at the time-but couldn't get all the way well.

  3. The coadministration of NSAIDS with methotrexate is routine in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and is considered safe by rheumatologists as long as liver function tests and blood counts are closely monitored.

I started with plaquenil last year, yes it took almost 6 months to get a level in your body, it does help, trust me. I was on Prednisone 7.5 to 10 mg per day, had a bad flair up and I am on 40 mg per day, last Friday the dr.''s told me to go down by 5 mg per week, so from 40mg to 35 mg per day.
